I remember being told in my twenties “watch what you eat, that food gonna catch up to you in your thirties”. That’s it. No one ever said anything about anything else. So I worked out and watched what I ate. AND COME TO FIND OUT…
Welcome to the Wonderful Thirties
Welcome to the wonderful thirties. Here is where we get down to the nitty gritty of being a woman entering a whole new world called, thirties– shout out to my girl Ariel!
Entering my thirties was just like any other birthday in my twenties. Then, 31 came and that’s when I really started to notice a difference. Things were just not the same. One day I was living my best life wearing my favorite high waisted denim skirt, then the next day she could barely come past my thighs.
New Body, Who This?
My body was changing and I had to learn her all over again. Specifically, I noted that my hips had spread almost overnight (not too mad about that but none of my bottoms would fit). Then, my monthly cycle just did a whole 180, and eventually the acne came. I was told hormonal acne, adult acne, stress acne. I don’t know the difference but, this is where I just about lost it. To add a little more razzle to my dazzle, I started developing allergies to things that I’ve never been allergic to ever in my life. Like who develops an allergy to lemon?
Let Him Cook
I had my routines and the way I took care of my body down to a T. Now, I’m starting from scratch, and that’s okay. The chef is in the kitchen, so I’ma let Him cook. God knew exactly what he was doing when he made women. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. This Psalm is the inspiration for this series. I do believe that God was very intentional about every detail concerning women. So I’m confident that all these changes aren’t going against me. They’re actually there to support me.
I just need to do my part.
This part is beautiful.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
Psalm 139:14
Embracing the Journey
I’m not going to lie, when I saw that acne I was not thinking like this. But after talking to my girls (who are also in their thirties) I was like, okay, this is the journey. One thing about a journey, you can either embrace it or let it overcome you.
I’m choosing to embrace it.
Starting with what I eat and put in my body. I would always eat pretty health consciously but now I had to get more specific. However, I started asking questions about how I can support the body that I’m in? Of course getting more sleep, working out, and eating healthy, but what else?
The Vitamin Stack
The V word.
Vitamins.
Vitamins fill nutritional gaps that your diet may miss. You may also have developed deficiencies, and that’s okay too. Vitamins can help.
My Vitamin stack is simple and based on my personal nutritional health and deficiencies. Altogether, this stack is to support my overall wellness, gut health, bones, hair, skin and nails.
Here’s my Vitamin stack:
Vitamin D3
Magnesium glycinate
Omega-3 fish oil
Probiotic + eating more prebiotic fiber
Collagen peptides with vitamin C
I also asked one of my girlfriends for her Vitamin stack, here it is:
Wellness formula
Vitamin D
Selenium
Magnesium
New chapter probiotic
And I drink those vitamin c packets
As you can see, we have some vitamins in common. Idk, but that’s kinda cute to me (lol).
I’m curious, what’s yours?
This conversation will be ongoing so feel free to chime in at any time.
