Be My Galentine đź’Ś
February 14th is no longer just about being boo’d up, and the girls have made that very clear by coining the term “Galentines Day”. Celebrating love, friendship, and sisterhood during the season of love is just as important as being with your boo! And if you know anything about me, as an event curator you know I take all special occasions to the next level. With that being said, I had the bright idea to orchestrate a Galentines Day Crawl for the girls in my community. It was the perfect opportunity to network and introduce the ladies to some of Greater Newark’s gems.
The Galentine’s Day Crawl included three stops, starting with Casa de Flora Bar, Newark Museum of Art, and lastly, Swahili Village. I specifically designed this line-up so the ladies would get a taste of fashion, art, food, drinks, culture, community, and most of all, fun!
The Galentines Day Crawl
Just in case you and your squad missed it, feel free to enjoy this crawl as a self guided tour for your own gworls day/night out!
Stop #1: Casa de Flora Bar
What girl doesn’t love a cafe full of flowers, tasty mocktails, cronuts, and endless photo ops? Oh, okay, just wanted to make sure we were on the same page about Casa de Flora Bar– one of the most talked about cafes in the area. You and your girls can build your own bouquet while you sip on fresh specialty drinks and take pictures against the flower wall. Not to mention this gem is woman-owned & black-owned #blackgirlsrock! Reservations are strongly recommended on weekends, click here to reserve your seats.
Stop #2 Newark Museum of Art
Be inspired, educated, and embraced from the state’s largest museum. Showcasing art collections and pieces from Newark natives, and surrounding areas. The Newark Museum of Art is by far an experience on its own– you’ll go from the Americas, to Africa, all the way to Asia without purchasing a plane ticket. However, you can save thousands and purchase your NMOA ticket here.
Stop #3 Swahili Village
Get ready to have your taste buds blown away at the final stop, Swahili Village, “Where Africa Meets Modern Fine Dining”. Between their diverse wine collection from South Africa, and their Kenyan cuisine inspired food menu, you won’t be disappointed. Make sure to book your reservation here as they are known to be busy during nights and weekends. (see what I order)
