That You May Prosper
At the beginning of every month it’s important to set your intentions, or better yet allow God to set them for you. By the grace of God you’ve made it to this point so how can you not trust God to carry you through this month? Here’s the scripture we’re starting the month off with:
3 John 1:2 – Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
February is the month of Prosperity
Now, in order for you to get the fullness of this scripture, you must be willing to shift your perspective. “What do you mean?”, you ask. Well, “prosperity”, or the word “prospers” literally means;
- to grant a prosperous and expeditious journey, to lead by a direct and easy way
- to grant a successful issue, to cause to prosper
- to prosper, be successful
Shift Your Perspective
So we see that prosperity equates to some level of success which can be anything. It’s all according to what one may consider as success. The reason why I say you must be willing to shift your perspective is because your version of success may be completely different from what God may consider as success. You may think that getting a new job is success, and God may equate success as maintaining the one you already have. Or, relieving you of a job that no longer suits you, and preparing you for your next role. You see, our thoughts are not His thoughts, His thoughts are always greater. His way is always better.
Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV – For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Behold, All Things Have Become New
This month of February, I want to encourage you to let go of your idea of what you think prosperity is. I want you to also think about what God would want for you. I want you to pray and ask God to show you what His version of prosperity looks like for you. Remember, it will always be greater/bigger than what you have planned. It may even look completely different than what your life looks like now. Don’t be afraid of something new. There is a scripture in the book of 2 Corinthians that says He makes all things new. It also says that God does new things, and that old things are passed away. I’m telling you, let Him do it. Surrender, and let Him do it!
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV – Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new.
