In My Element
OMG! I got booked for my first international campaign photo & video shoot! So, if you’re new here, let me feel you in on my influencer background. I’ve been sharing fashion and lifestyle content on instagram since 2012 and I recently started focusing on paid influencing over the past two years. Since then, I’ve booked multiple paid campaigns but I was always responsible for production (hair, makeup, photographer, etc.), this one is different! The company that booked me had a full production team, wardrobe, and ALL! I feel like I’m in my element now because I’ve always wanted this type of work for myself.
How it Happened
Listen, social media is everything, and it’s where I’ve booked most (if not all) my campaigns. They pretty much found me on Instagram and slid in my DM’s (which I check often). I can almost guarantee it was through a location hashtag based on the conversation we had. Any who, I responded and they sent over details and I sent over my rates, they agreed, and the rest was pretty much history… my first international campaign shoot was well on it’s way!
Behind the Scenes (BTS)
Day 1
My first day of shooting was a solo scene of me in a staged set with the featured brand products. For this scene, I actually had to pull out my acting skills because there was a storyline of some sort to reenact. There were three parts, and they all came together so easily for me.. I feel like the character I played in this scene, I could really relate to her, and you’ll see why once the campaign launches.
Day 2
The second and last day of the shoot was a mix of solo and group scenes. This was even better because I actually got to meet some other influencer/models. We were all excited, and hot– it was 101 degrees outside. With all the shots being outside we had to stay hydrated and get lots of air, lol. For this part of the shoot, we had two outfit changes and multiple scenes to capture for both photo and video. Even though it was blazing hot, all I could think about was how blessed I was being included on something like this.
How To Get Booked for Paid Campaigns?
Okay, so there’s a long answer and a short answer to this, so if you want the long version, schedule a one on one consult here. Now, the short version is short and sweet, let’s take a look:
⚡️produce quality content CONSISTENTLY– make sure you have good camera quality, an up-to-date phone camera works fine (no need to invest in professional camera equipment right away)
⚡️use location based hashtags– location hashtags come in handy, they may not seem like it in terms of likes or followers, but if someone is looking for #njinfluencer they will be able to find you (hint: that’s literally how I got booked)
⚡️build conversation with your audience– talk, and build relationships with them (you never want to be a distant influencer, not a good look!)
⚡️be true to yourself & your brand 💃🏽– if you don’t love what you’re producing, you’ll lose authenticity, and being fake doesn’t get you far
