Fit Girl Fall: My First Pilates Class

This is the season of fall festivities but I have to break it to you– it’s still a Fit Girl Fall so, come with me to my first pilates class! I’ve always loved a slow and steady yet effective workout. I’ve tried so many things, including mat pilates but never with the reformer (until now). There’s so many myths about pilates and most of them are false. I’ll go ahead and clear the air and tell you pilates is for all shapes and sizes. If you want to try it, I highly recommend it. Here’s why you should:

5 Reasons You Should Try Pilates:

  1. Familiarity: You may go to a class and realize that you’re actually advanced beecause a lot of the movements are familiar to other workouts. They do feel different of course, but the general concepts tend to be consistent.
  1. Controlled Intensity: You may be building up your strength so there is a way for you to control the intensity levels. As you progress, you can add more resistance which will happen if you keep going.
  1. Stress & Tension Relief: There is a relaxation element that comes into play while doing pilates. Some of the movements and positions literally relieve stress & tension, another unexpected bonus.
  1. Community: If you’re thinking that you’re just going to a class and that’s it you’re sadly mistaken. There will be other people in your class who will want to chat, ask questions, give tips, etc. I connected with some wonderful ladies in my class & that made it even more worth going.
  1. Childlike Fun: I don’t know any other way to explain it but to me, reformer pilates is like an adult playground. Some of the movements just brought memories of being on the playground as a kid. This also took my mind off of the fact that I was actually working out still.

Overall my experience was a 10/10, thanks to The Daily Pilates Basking Ridge, I finished my pilates session with mini brunch by Bridgewater Cafe, and facials by Ari Aesthetics. After all that, I can say that this was the first of many pilates classes for me. Thanks again, The Daily Pilates Basking Ridge for inviting me to your soft opening and I pray that you have much success in your business. If you’d like to attend one of their classes please visit their website and tell them @kmonaefierce sent you! If you’d like to invite me to a class please send an email to hello@kmonaefierce.com

As always, stay blessed + stay fierce
